‘The Change We Need: Building the Future for Young People with Speech and Language Disabilities’ (2010-2019) is the title of a 10-year long capital project at Moor House School & College.
Since the openinig of our 6th Form College Accommodation and the intake of Day students in 2012, there has been a sharp rise in the number of our students. Our student numbers rose from 80 in 2010 to 135 in 2016 and are estimated to further rise to 160 by 2018.
The aim of this project is to modernise and expand the infrastructure of our residential care, teaching and therapy provision to cater for this rise in demand for our specialist services. This work is divided into the following four phases:
Phase 1: 2011 - 2012
OUTCOME: New 6th Form College Residenital Campus for 20 students.
(Completed in 2012)
Phase 2: 2015 - 2016
OUTCOME: New School Residential Campus for 40 students aged 7-16
(Completed in 2016)
Phase 3: 2016 - 2017
OUTCOME: New Residential, Teaching, and Therapy Units
A: Refurbishment of Old Dormitories = £424k
B: Replacement of the Design, Technology and Ceramics Workshop = £200k
c: Furniture for the new Residential Campus = £90k
Phase 4: 2017 - 2019
OUTCOME: New Therapy, Music & Gym Suites
A: New Therapy Building = £2m
B: New Music & Gym Suite = £0.5m
